IMPLEMENTATION MANUAL FOR THE USE OF BONDING MATERIALS FOR PIEZOELECTRIC TRAFFIC MONITORING SENSORS. FINAL REPORT

In order to properly design highway pavements, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) gathers traffic data with piezoelectric classification sensors. Use of these sensors includes the use of polymer binding materials to install the sensors in the pavement. In the past, the polymer being used by TxDOT proved to be inadequate. This project was undertaken to accomplish three goals: to select suitable polymer materials, to adjust the sensor installation design to make it more successful, and to develop a system for evaluating new materials as they become available. This volume is intended to assist TxDOT in the inplementation of the findings of this project.
