Artificial Bee Colony Optimization for Improved Position Estimation of a GPS Receiver

Metaheuristic based computational approaches provide high quality solutions for nonlinear system applications. In the metaheuristic optimizations, the methods applied for the estimation of desired solution is based on the natural instinct of a particular biological species. In this paper, honey bees natural behavior and organization among the bees of its colony for the food search laid a path in the design of optimization technique called as Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) optimization. The ABC algorithm is implemented for the estimation of a GPS receiver position. The results show that the ABC optimization algorithm is better for GPS receiver 3D position estimation.
