Moving robot and operating method for same

A moving robot and an operating method for the same are provided to calculate the position of the robot by adjusting the intensity of lights or projecting angle of the light, when data from an image sensor is erroneous. A moving robot comprises an image sensor(30), at least one light sources unit(90,100), and a control unit. The image sensor films a floor surface by converting lights projected through a lens into an electric signal. The light source unit projects lights to the floor filmed by the image sensor. The control unit calculates traveling distance by comparing data input from the image sensor with one another and controls the intensity of the lights from the light source unit when data input by the image sensor have problems.
