Research on positioning and tracking system of construction workers based on ZigBee

This study is based on the ZigBee wireless sensor network technology to locate and track construction workers. By using ZigBee as a network element, the construction workers as a wireless sensor network of mobile nodes, the wireless sensor networks and construction workers are combined in organic enriched wireless sensor networks. This paper describes the ZigBee-based positioning and tracking system hardware design, including the CC2430 ZigBee modules based positioning sub-stations, base locator, mobile positioning devices and transmission interface circuit design, and ZigBee-based positioning and tracking system software design. An RSSI-based positioning technology of construction worker is then proposed. The positioning and tracking system of construction workers for construction site is given as an example, which demonstrates that it is obviously helpful to the management of construction site.
