Connecting Identification and Robust Control: A New Challenge

Until recently identification theory had not focused upon delivering accurate uncertainty bounds around the estimated model. In addition, in adaptive control design, not much effort has been devoted to the effect of the controller on the quality of the identified model. In this paper, the interactions between identification and control design are illustrated, and a number of recent results is presented that aim at enhancing the synergy between these two fields.
