An improved artificial potential field method for solving local minimum problem

An improved artificial potential field (APF) method is proposed for solving local minimum problems. An additional force is provided and the virtual local minimum area is developed. The influences of parameters in improved APF are also discussed and the genetic algorithm (GA) is introduced for parameters optimization. Some simulation studies with single obstacle and multiple obstacles have carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.
