Counting the Minutes

Models of pacemaker-counter systems are developed and tested against data. Variability in both timing and counting is required in order to predict Weber’s Law (Scalar Timing). If Weber’s Law holds, to minimize variability about the true time subjects should underestimate the duration of intervals. The Generalized Weber’s Law derived from this analysis is consistent with various theories of the timing process.
